Dr. April Spurling
Dr. Spurling is fellowship trained in Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation. She trained with Dr.William Padula at the Padula Institute of Vision Rehabilitation. A Neuro Optometric evaluation provides information regarding the profound relationship of the visual process to balance, posture, movement, position sense, cognitive processing and memory. Her testing may include: refraction, sensorimotor evaluation and a visual evoked potential (VEP). The (VEP) has been used to analyze afferent pathway involvements that affect visual field and acuities. This type of assessment is critical for athletes who engage in any aspect of contact within their sport. Rehabilitation of identified perceptual issues may be accomplished by using special lenses as well as visual training exercises. Monitoring is an important part of the rehabilitation process.
